About Us
Welcome to B&N Homegrown Kennels! We are a state-licensed and inspected kennel located just outside of Osceola, Iowa, where we have been proudly raising quality dogs since 2013.
What started as a love for dogs has grown into a carefully run, family-focused breeding program dedicated to raising happy, healthy, and well-socialized puppies. Our dogs are not raised in a commercial setting—they are raised in our home, surrounded by everyday family life.
Our puppies receive daily hands-on care and interaction from us and our children, helping them grow into confident, affectionate companions. From an early age, they are exposed to normal household sights, sounds, and routines to ensure a smooth transition into their new homes.
At B&N Homegrown Kennels, our breeding dogs are more than just breeding dogs—they are beloved members of our family. Most of our time is spent caring for, training, and interacting with our dogs to ensure their physical and mental well-being. Their health, happiness, and well-being are always our top priority, and every breeding decision is made with care, responsibility, and intention.
We are committed to responsible breeding practices. Our females are not bred until they are at least two years old, and all of our dogs undergo health testing to help ensure they are clear of known genetic diseases. In addition, we maintain an annual veterinary inspection to verify that our dogs are housed in clean environments, have access to fresh water and ample nutrition, and that all adult dogs remain current on vaccinations.
Our Breeds
*AKC Australian Cattle Dogs (Heelers)
We proudly raise AKC blue and red Australian Cattle Dogs, commonly known as Heelers. This is a high-energy, highly intelligent working breed that is not suited for every household. Heelers require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and well-balanced.
While they thrive in active homes, we have successfully placed Heelers in town and city homes with families who have taken the time to research the breed and are committed to meeting their needs. They are exceptionally loyal, protective, and devoted to their people and may bond very strongly to one primary handler.
Our Australian Cattle Dogs are health tested for DM, PRA-PRCD, and PLL. Our adult Heelers typically weigh between 40–50 pounds.
*AKC Pembroke Welsh Corgis
We proudly raise AKC Pembroke Welsh Corgis, including both standard-coated and fluffy Corgis. Our Corgis are known for their intelligence, affectionate nature, and outgoing personalities, making them wonderful companions for families and individuals alike.
As a herding breed, Pembroke Welsh Corgis are energetic and thrive with regular exercise and mental stimulation. When given proper outlets for their energy, they are loyal, eager-to-please, and highly adaptable dogs.
Our Corgis come in a variety of beautiful colors, including black tri, red-headed tri, sable and white, bluie sable and white, and blue merle. We focus on producing well-rounded puppies with stable temperaments and sound structure.
All of our Pembroke Welsh Corgis are health tested for DM, VWD1, and EIC. Our adult Corgis typically range between 20–30 pounds.
*AKC Miniature Dachshunds
We also raise AKC Miniature Dachshunds, a small breed known for their big personalities and loving nature. Mini Dachshunds are affectionate, playful, and loyal companions who thrive on human connection.
Despite their smaller size, Dachshunds are confident and curious dogs. They do well in a variety of home environments when provided with consistent routines, gentle training, and appropriate exercise. Their adaptable nature makes them a great choice for families, couples, and individuals alike.
Our Miniature Dachshunds are raised in our home with the same care and attention as our other breeds, focusing on health, temperament, and early socialization. All of our Miniature Dachshunds are genetically tested to help ensure they are clear of known hereditary conditions. Our adult Mini Dachshunds typically range between 10–15 pounds, making them an excellent option for those looking for a smaller companion without sacrificing personality.
Our puppies are born and raised inside our home until they are approximately 6 weeks old, where they receive constant care, early socialization, and daily interaction. At that point, they are transitioned to our puppy shed, allowing them more space to explore while continuing structured care and enrichment.
Puppy health and preparation are extremely important to us. Each puppy:
-
Receives dewormer at 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age
-
Is microchipped prior to going home
-
Is taken to the veterinarian at 8 weeks of age for a final health check and official health certificate
Every puppy goes home with a large puppy pack to help ease the transition into their new home. Our puppy packs include:
-
Vet and vaccination records folder
-
Collar and leash
-
Food
-
Toys
-
Training pads
-
A blanket with familiar scents
We require a signed contract for all puppies placed in new homes. This contract outlines our spay and neuter policies, health guarantees, and rehoming procedures. We are deeply committed to the lifelong well-being of every dog we produce.
If for any reason a puppy or dog does not work out in their new home, buyers are required to contact us first. We will always take our dogs back, at any age, to ensure they never bounce between homes or end up in a shelter.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our program. We are honored to share our passion and commitment with families seeking a puppy raised with care, responsibility, and heart.
